I will be to him a father, and he shall be
to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of
men, with the stripes of the sons of men, but my steadfast love will not depart
from him
Love and discipline are not at odds
according to the Bible. If you love, you discipline. When you discipline, you
do so in love. You are a missionary, on a rescue mission, lovingly training
your children to walk in the way of the Lord.
"I love them too much to spank
them," knows neither the value of real instruction nor the perseverance of
true love.
