But I will establish my covenant with you,
and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons'
wives with you.
And yet the covenant will survive the
torrents of God's unabated wrath by a warning, a promise, a way of escape and a
man's faith in all three. If Noah didn't heed the warning, he would have died.
If he believed the warning but didn't believe the promise of rescue, he would
have died. If he believed the warning and the promise, but didn't apply himself
to the work God had given him, his faith and hope would have been drowned out.
