day no. 14,798: Penelope is nine!!!

Nine years ago this very day you were born. You came home to our humble apartment in Ames, IA and have since lived there, in our first house in Story City, IA, at our first church plant in Cedar Falls, IA and our second church plant (our first move out of state) in Columbia, MO. You have been a mover and a shaker for most of your life whether you know it or not :)

During the course of the last 9 years, I have watched you grow and listened to you talk. You have been talking from a young age and it has been such a joy to get to know you. I get you and I like you. I like hearing from you and I love getting a glimpse into your head. You are articulate and skilled at communicating. I like that about you and I like that it gives me a better peek into your head and heart on a regular basis. I love reading what you write and listening to the songs you sing and music you compose on the piano. You are an amazing little girl. You are full of faith and fun. You make life more fun and I'm so glad that God picked you to be part of my life.

I love you ladycakes. Happy Birthday!!!

day no. 14,796: everything is going somewhere and sooner or later, it's going to get there

Yesterday, while on the treadmill, I watched this interaction between Doug Wilson and Joe Rigney and heard this gem at the end of this dialogue.

Damnation is where you finally become what you have been becoming.
Salvation is where you finally become what you have been becoming.

You either are moving one direction or the other and eventually... you're going to arrive.

day no. 14,795: diversity or perversity?

I listened to the Ask Doug segment below today while on the treadmill

The biggest take away from this was the point made that the biggest mistake pornography makes is the exact same mistake that romance novels make: assuming the opposite sex thinks and acts the same way yours does.  So in pornography, the women think and act like men, but look like women and in romance novels the men think and act like women, but look like men.

On a side note, the diversity mongers have yet to confess that God in His wisdom is more diverse than they are. While they continue to insist on progressive same-sameness, God continues to stick to His same-notsameness. The way of a man and a woman is the height of diversity. The way of a man with a man or a woman with a woman is the antithesis of diversity.

day no. 14,792: food on the table, boots on the ground

Nehemiah 4:14
And I looked and arose and said to the nobles and to the officials and to the rest of the people, "Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes."

Remember the Lord.
Fight for your family.

Also, take note, Nehemiah does not say, "fight for your husbands!" Why not? Because he isn't talking to wives and mothers. He is talking to husbands and fathers. Men must fight. Men must provide for the table and the 2x4s that hold up the home and then men must leave the comfort of that home and fight when the home is threatened. Men must go out in order to keep what must stay. Men fight because wives, children, homes and tables are worth protecting.
