Genesis 4:13
Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is
greater than I can bear."
Yeah Cain, it must be rough. I'm sorry to
hear that being held accountable for killing your brother is turning out to be
so hard for you. I wonder how you'll ever survive it.
That would have been my response, but…
Genesis 4:15
the Lord put a mark on Cain, lest any who
found him should attack him.
My heart is all, "let the dogs devour
him," but God shows mercy and places a mark on Cain that protects him from
being murdered. It does not, however, protect him in the long run from his
decision to be separated from God and His people.
