day no. 12,743 continued... you have not yet considered how great the weight of sin is

"You have not yet considered how great the weight of sin is." ~ St. Anselm

If you have not died to yourself in order to live to God through Jesus, you have not considered the seriousness of the situation in which you currently find yourself.

You may say, "I'm not that bad," or "I could be worse," and you may be right.

There may be examples of sin and sinfulness in existence and in history that serve as extremes to which you have never ventured or considered.

You may do some things wrong, but you could do it worse or more often.

All murderers could have killed more people.
All liars could have told more lies.
All haters could have produced more hate.

It's true.

But it doesn't excuse the death, deception and division caused by the murder, lies and hate you have bound up in your heart.

Your view of your weight of sin without Jesus is in direct proportion to the degree of weight you place on His majesty and mercy in doing for you what you could not do yourself.

Luke 7:47

Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little.
