The wicked are like weeds that spring up quickly, spread contagiously, appear to be taking over everything and then vanish suddenly. The righteous are like trees anchored deeply in the soil who endure wind and weather and season. The righteous are fed from deep roots while the wicked spread along the surface. The righteous will endure because the One who feeds them endures forever. The wicked flourish for now on the surface, but have no staying power.
