day no. 14,397: blood stains

Exodus 29:21
Then you shall take part of the blood that is on the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it on Aaron and his garments, and on his sons and his sons' garments with him. He and his garments shall be holy, and his sons and his sons' garments with him.

God alone is holy. He possesses holiness as an attribute. He is unique and set apart in every way by this characteristic. Nothing is made holy without blood sacrifice. Without it, there is no forgiveness of sins, and anything with sin is excluded from holiness. This is why Aaron and his garments and his sons and his sons' garments needed to be sprinkled in blood. Even though they were the High Priests, the ones granted the most intimate access to God of any and all people in all of the world, they were not allowed to do so without being made holy. They were not holy in and of themselves. Without blood covering them, they could not survive an encounter with God.
