day no. 15,144: the main effort

"The main effort receives priority for support of any kind. It must be clear to all other units in the command that they must support that unit in the accomplishment of its mission. The main effort becomes a harmonizing force for a subordinate's initiative. Faced with a decision, we ask ourselves: How can I best support the main effort?" -- MCDP 1-3: Tactics

It is important for everyone to know what the main effort of the local church is. We, too, like the Marine Corps are expected to be often engaged in battles. Battles are complex and require different efforts in different directions, but all must be aimed at accomplishing and done in support of the main effort.

If we find ourselves spending inordinate amounts of time on projects or programs that do not directly support, or even worse conflict with the main effort, we must reallocate our resources.

So... do you know what the main effort of your local church is? If you don't, you don't know how to determine what to do or how much to do it. You don't know what you're aiming at, which makes it less likely that you're going to hit it.

You will end up somewhere and you will have spent a lot of time and energy getting there, but will it be where you wanted to end up?
