day no. 14,850: day and night defined by day

Philippians 2:14-16
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

There are 24 hours in every day. Some are filled with light and called, "day," while some are filled darkness and called, "night," but the 24 hours as a whole is known as a "day." The 24 hours are defined by the presence of day, even during winter months when darkness prevails the 24 hours.

When the darkness is finally overcome completely by light, it will be called the day of Christ. On that day darkness and light we meet and the day will come to be dominated entirely by light. The day will become in reality what it has always been identified with etymologically.

On that day, the day will become what it always has been, Christ's. In the meantime, take heart and comfort in the fact that the periods of darkness are defined as "day" and are under the headship, authority and title of "Day."

In the end, on that day, it will be revealed that the day belongs to the day and the world belongs to Christ... as they both always have.

Just as field mixed with wheat and weeds is called a wheat field, a 24 hour period of daylight and darkness is identified as "DAY."
