Even Twitter has enough sense to limit words, which is saying something (which could have been said with less words)

140 characters are plenty to make yourself a fool.

Proverbs 10:19

19 When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.

Ever notice the more you talk, the more you are apt to say something totally ridiculous?

Once you tweet or text it, it is gone and out there in the air, unable to be retrieved.

Once you say out loud the thing in your mind, it is out there. There is no taking it back. You can repent and apologize and you should, but the words still went forth into the minds, hearts, and souls of the hearers.

Here is a poem I have heard oft repeated by my pastor Tom Nesbitt.

Boys flying kites can haul in their white winged birds.
You can't do that when you are flying words.
Words unspoken may sometimes fall back dead.
But God Himself can't stop them once they are said.

If that doesn't grab ya, perhaps an ancient quote will.

nescit vox missa reverti
A word, once spoken, can never be recalled. (Horace)
