Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
When we omit our children from our mission, we leave them vulnerable to the missions of others. Someone will want our children if we don't. Someone will teach them and be there for them if we're too busy teaching or being there for others. If we make someone else's kids our target, our kids will be the targets of someone else. If we set our sights on other people's children, other people will set their sights on ours.
For what does it profit a man if should reach the nations, but lose his own son?
God has promised to be ever present in our parenting. As we disciple our children through the instruction and nourishment of the Lord, we immerse them into all things Triune. We flood their worlds with His goodness until it is all under His influence. We teach them everything He has commanded and show them how to obey it. We show them now to obey by teaching them to obey, just as Christ commanded us to do. And as we do all of this, we know it is not in vain, for He is with us and will never leave us or our children. World without end. Amen.
Isaiah 54:13
All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
And great shall be the peace of your children.
The Lord will lead the Sunday Schools of the saints. He will first use the parents He has saved to convey the covenant to their respective little flocks. He will then use the local congregation of which the family belongs to teach their children about His communion. And He will, Himself, play Counselor to your kids. He will teach them His ways as He inhabits their souls. He will be present in the teaching of the parents and in the hearts of the children in order to unite the hearing with believing. He will be present in the entire process: from calling the parent, to providing the instruction, to preparing the heart to receive the wisdom.
