There is real safety in the shelter of God's shadow. But God's people often endure difficulties. Satan knows this song well and used it's lyrics in his temptation of Jesus in the wilderness. But Jesus knew that the cross comes before the crown and humility comes before honor. The cross was not a sign of Jesus' failure, it was a symbol of His victory. Christians to this day sing of and wear signs of the cross. This song sings of faith in God to protect us as we risk our lives for His glory. If our hope is anchored in Him, our hope can never be taken away from us.
