The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. God prefers corporate worship to private. He loves the gathering of His people to praise Him more than their private meditative moments. God not only loves the gates of Zion more than any one dwelling place of Jacob, He loves it more than all of the collective dwelling places of Jacob combined. This is not to say that He does not love or even like private worship and prayerful meditation and study. It is, however, to stress that the whole is more important than the individual in God's economy. The church is greater than the member, the body more beloved than its cells.
Everyone is born somewhere, but only those reborn and registered by God as citizens of Zion are counted righteous. There is no title higher that could be given than, "this one was born there."
