Leviticus 17:11
For the life of the flesh is in the blood,
and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for
it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.
Life belongs to God. He is the Author of
all life. Blood is a symbol of that life. That is why blood is required for
sacrifice. Someone has to die. Blood must be spilled for sin. Without blood,
there is no atonement. Someone or something must die for our sins.
