“Is it possible that at least some of your problems are partly your fault?” — Douglas Wilson
In a world full of sin, it isn't often that you had nothing to do with any of it. Now, that is not to say that it is impossible to be sinned against unilaterally. That can happen, but you should budget for the fact that most sins, like the tango, take two.
“No problem is so bad that you can’t make it worse.” — Douglas Wilson
Some attempts to fix the problem are simply an additional problem. Some solutions are just as problematic as the original problem like taking cyanide for a headache. Cyanide will, all things considered, make the headache go away, but not without consequences. If you go that route, you will find that other things have gone away as well.
Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
All of this to say that it is possible to add to the sin in trying to reduce it. If you are not spiritual, you can make the original sin worse. In other circumstances, you may not make a dent in it, but you might add a new sin to the mix. And if you go in without budgeting for your own depravity, you will find yourself tempted in the process of "helping" someone else with their temptations.
Sin is one of the problems with solutions.
