day no. 17,153: male leadership is the feminine glory of the bride of Christ

“To be truly feminine, the Church must be obedient. And what is the Church told to do? The church is commanded to have masculine leadership . . . and that means that the Church is never more feminine than when the worship is led by men, the liturgy is conducted by men, and the one who opens the text of the sermon to read it aloud is a man.” — Douglas Wilson, Virgins and Volcanoes

Masculinity is initiative and femininity is receptivity.
Men pursue and women respond.
Husbands lead and wives submit.

The Church is the bride of Christ. That means the Church is feminine. As such, submission to her husband is her glory. She is never more powerful and more glorious than when she is doing exactly what her Husband has asked her to do. Her husband has declared that only men should be elders and pastors in His church. The feminine response is to cheerfully obey and send qualified men to the front lines of ministry. This is good and glorious and submissive. The Church is a beautiful bride when she sits under male authority.

When a church sends a woman to the front in order to recognize women, she is acting like Eve. She is grasping for the wrong thing and trying to achieve something she thinks is good by going against what God has said is good. In short, she is deceived. The results are not more glory and honor for the feminine, but shame and dishonor. The daughters of Eve are not better represented by being more visible. The Bride of Christ is most beautiful and submissive when she is led by good and godly men. Men bring their masculinity into the pulpit and this is the feminine glory of the Church.
