day no. 17,151: secular neutrality is their weapon of choice

"There needs to be no compromise with secularism, which will necessarily veer into leftist communism. Without a God over society, society seeks to become that God, and that drags us into the total state of necessity. So it is not just true that individuals need Jesus. Nations also need Jesus. No society can be governed justly without a transcendent reference point, and that transcendent reference point cannot be a place-holder god that we just made up. It cannot be an idol. And because Jesus rose from the dead, He must be given that place of preeminence. Because Jesus rose from the dead, every form of collectivism or communism is wicked." — Douglas Wilson, Revivals and Seismographs

When it comes to the godless, secular neutrality is the weapon of choice.

“Once abolish the God and the government becomes the God.” — G.K. Chesterton

When you remove the standard of Christ, you are not left without a standard. Nations, like nature, abhor a vacuum. Something will fill the vacancy. An empty throne is merely a job opening.

“Any organization not explicitly and constitutionally right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing.” — Robert Conquest

When the church refuses to stand on the standard of Christ, it is already capitulating to the culture around it. One of the tell tale signs of mission drift is a refusal to state your mission out loud in front of everyone with the microphone on and the cameras rolling.

"You can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out." — Douglas Wilson

When you give away the farm, it is never given back. You can vote away your right to vote, but you cannot get it back that way. You can give away your right to be taken seriously, but you cannot get it back without getting serious.

“Jesus hates socialism. He hates statism. He hates crony capitalism.” — Douglas Wilson, Mere Christendom

When you soft pedal the situation, you get a soft response. If you deal in hard truths, you get solid responses. Unless we ready to call socialism sin, we must prepare to call each other comrade.
