Nothing But The Blood

Listen HERE.

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon, this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Now by this I’ll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
Now by this I’ll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

Glory! Glory! This I sing—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus,
All my praise for this I bring—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Refrain

  1. Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Your post caught my eye because I posted an article on Robert Lowry's fine gospel song this morning. Too many churches (and hymn books, and even Bible versions) have tried to downplay the blood of Christ as being distasteful to modern society. Praise the Lord still faithfully proclaiming, "The blood of Jesus Christ...cleanses us from all sin" (I Jn. 1:7). God bless.

    1. Too true brother.

      The blood of Christ is distasteful. That is the point, isn't it? God sees our sin as even more disgusting as we see blood (especially that of an innocent man brutally torturted on a cross).

      Show me a church that does not want to talk about the blood of Jesus and I will show you a church that no longer preaches the Gospel.
