day no. 15,632: death before endurance

In reading The Art of Manliness, Manvotionals: Timeless Wisdom and Advice on Living the 7 Manly Virtues by Brett McKay, I came across the following quote,

"To die rather than endure manfully the pressure of poverty, or the stings of love, or any other cruel suffering, is the part of the coward." -- Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics

A coward would rather die than endure.

It takes faith to stay.

It requires courage to outlast the adversary.

  1. This is the unpopular courage. The courage of the moment may simply be death before suffering. Perhaps both are necessary.

    1. Amen. Faith is willing to die if it comes to that, but is also willing to endure difficulty as long it is required of it.
