"If you seek humility, try hard work." - C.H. Spurgeon
It would make sense that on the day I discovered this quip from Spurgeon I would have a rough night preaching at Salt Company. Preaching is hard work and when it goes well, it sometimes feels less hard. When it doesn't go the way you were wishing, it reminds you how hard the work really is and how vulnerable you are regardless of how much effort, education, and experience you bring to the pulpit on any given occasion, even if you find a way to find three "e" words to explain it. Thank You, God, for hard work and a faithful dose of humility in continuing to work hard at it.
