Luke 16:8
The children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
Matthew 6:21
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Worldlings know that hearts get hot for cold, hard cash and that cold, hard hearts are easily bought. This is true of all people and the more money, the more opportunity. So, it should come as no surprise that politics should be governed by this particular cashechism.
"No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems -- of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind." --Thomas Sowell
Bills are passed where bills are passed. Money moves the machinery of ministries. So much so, we should say that new laws are minted, not passed.
"When people start to say things like 'follow the money,' I do not object to this — it is an admirable rule — so long as they follow all the money." -- Douglas Wilson, And Now for a Spot of Good News, However Unwelcome That Might Be
As sure as morning follows night, legislation follows the money. If it can be bough and it will be sold. For some to buy in, they must sell out. A Christian ought not to be so easily purchased and should not be so naive as to ignore the compound interest of those with compounded interests.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Money isn't the worst, but people often are. So, Christians should stay clear-headed by staying content and grateful for what they have been given and keeping their wits wherever and whenever bills of both kinds are being passed.
