John 3:27
A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.
No one has anything unless it is given to him from heaven. In other words, everyone has nothing until it is provided as a gift from above.
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
Everyone begins in the wrath of God. The gift of God transfers one out from under the wrath of God, but the ones who are not given the gift of belief in the only Son of God, remain where they began -- under the wrath of God.
In other words, the wrath of God remains where it always was... on the sinner UNLESS God by His grace through the faith He provides does move a man out from under it.
