The free markets of philosophy have degenerated into the underground markets of human trafficking. It is Christ and clear-headedness or chaos and confusion. There is His way and there is the "high way" that leads to more trafficking.

Colossians 2:8

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

You cannot ban Christ from the public square and expect private bedrooms to remain above board. You cannot cut down the tree and keep getting its fruit. Religious liberty and freedom of conscience are Christian ideals. Under Christ, these were introduced and sustained. But like the prodigal, once you leave your Father's house, you're living on borrowed capital and anything that can't go on forever... won't.
