And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore
a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed for me another
offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.” 26 To Seth also a son was
born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time people began to call upon the
name of the Lord.
The promise God made to mankind was that
through their progeny, One would come who would eventually put an end to death by
a swift kick to the serpent's skull. With Abel in the ground and Cain AWOL,
that plan seemed to be off to a rocky start. But God provided Adam and Eve with
Seth who produced offspring who called again upon the Lord. So while death seemed
to quickly rule and reign after the fallout of the Garden, life by God's design
passed the baton forward hoping to find the One who would rule and reign over
death.
