For everything there
is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to cast away
stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace,
and a time to refrain from embracing
The lie we must sometimes
fight is to set ourselves on one speed. If embracing is good, we should always
embrace. If refraining is good, we should always refrain. Both are good, in
their appropriate seasons. Wisdom does not allow such thoughtless application
even if it is cleaner. It requires faith and dependence on the only wise God to
discover when the time is right for which and when the time is wrong for the
other.
