There is no
remembrance of former things, nor will there be any remembrance of later things
yet to be among those who come after.
Under the sun, our
tendency is to forget. We believe the lie that we are the first to live and die
searching for meaning or feeling as though it might all be meaningless. We
believe we are plumbing new depths when the tombs of our forefathers are buried
beside us. Even if we, by chance, remember; we believe our situation is somehow
different. We refuse to learn, refuse to hear and believe that we are
experiencing an echo of an old tune, not an inspiration of a new melody.
