day no. 16,993: nurturing our children in the culture and commands of Christ

"The government school system is a foe to be defeated, not a friend to be reformed." — Voddie Baucham

We are to give to Caesar that which is his and remind him that our children are not included among those things.

"Education is one of the most religious things we do." — Douglas Wilson, Excused Absence

God has not given the keys of the kingdom to the State. It does not have jurisdiction over Word or sacrament. Since education is necessarily familial and religious, the responsibility for it is placed on the father under the advisement of his local church. The State, therefore, has no business funding or administrating it, yet this is exactly what they insist on doing in increasing degrees. Feducation is big business.

"A tax-supported, compulsory educational system is the complete model of the totalitarian state. There can be no greater stretch of arbitrary power than to seize children from their parents, teach them whatever the authorities decree they shall be taught, and expropriate from the parents the funds to pay for the procedure.” — Isabel Paterson, God of the Machine

State schools are the churches of secularism complete with compulsory tithes and catechisms. It is a racket and a ruse. It is mandatory mayhem. Under the guise of guiding our children they are turning our children against us and our God. But, and this is a big BUT, only if we surrender our children to them. It is not yet to the point of outright conscription. You can opt out. Most Christians have the option to keep their kids at home or send them to a Christian school, but many still voluntarily choose to send them to Caesar.

"I would advise no one to send his child where the Holy Scriptures are not supreme. Every institution that does not unceasingly pursue the study of God's word becomes corrupt. Because of this we can see what kind of people they become in the universities and what they are like now." — Martin Luther

You cannot send your kids to the antichrist and expect them to come back as missionaries. Our kids tend to convert to the church we sent them to. If you insist that they attend secular services five days a week, they will come back attempting to convert you to the cult of Caesar.

"The training which does not base duty on Christianity is, for us, practically immoral." — R.L. Dabney, On Secular Education

Practically speaking, it is Christ or chaos. You will either have Jesus as Savior and Lord of all or you will not have Him at all.

"The education of children for God is the most important business done on earth. It is the one business for which the earth exists. To it all politics, all war, all literature, all money making ought to be subordinated; and every parent especially ought to feel, every hour of the day, that next to making his own calling and election sure, this is the end for which he is kept alive by God — this is his task on earth." — R.L. Dabney

Education is nurturing our children in the culture and the commands of Christ. This is our duty as Christian parents. Our children are owed this. When we say that a father ought to provide this, we are saying that a dad owes his son a Christian education. (Eph. 6:4)
