What we see in mankind is the degradation of something grandiose. We do not see the pinnacle of some process. Man is not the crowning achievement of a slow positive trajectory. He is the pathetic remains of something once prominent.
Man is not the latest high point on the road to success, but the latest permutation on the path of degradation.
Outside of Christ, humanity circles the drain, but in Him, everything is being made new.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
