Numbers 33
The faith once for all delivered to the saint is based on historical events. It isn't merely a metaphysical happening detached from time and place. It is earthier than mental exercise. There is real solid sweat and dirt involved. People actually traveled from certain places to other places and God was actively leading them to actual destinations. It isn't all allegorical non-sense, it is physical, literal history. The Christian faith depends on actual events. If certain events did not actually take place our faith is lame. It cannot stand. It is worthless, helpless and hapless. Christian faith is not blind assumption, but certain confidence that particular historical events have specific spiritual significance. If the events did not take place, the faith falls apart. If they took place, but are rendered insignificant, the faith similarly crumbles.
