"Those who grant honor where honor is due, will not fail in their turn to receive it" -- Malcolm Douglas, The Soul of Honor
Romans 12:10
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Romans 13:17
Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.
God has infused authoritative structures into the hard-wiring of the way the world is made. Individuals possess self-governance. Marriages have husbands. Families have Fathers. Churches have Elders. Citizens have the Civil Magistrate.
Honor is owed to those in positions of authority. The personality or productivity of the person holding the position may not be honorable, but their position is. Those who honor the position will themselves obtain honor if they should ever obtain a position requiring it. Those who attempt to obtain a position of authority by deriding and dishonoring the position should find it no surprise to be dishonored themselves when they take their seat in their new offices.
