It is a snare to say
rashly, “It is holy,”
and to reflect only
after making vows.
It is important to
make vows and to commit to people, but it is important to consider wisely to
whom you commit yourself.
This applies to
marriage as much as it does to ministry.
1 Timothy 5:22
Do not be hasty in
the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself
pure.
It is crucial that you consider the content of your covenants and the people to whom you promise them.
Ecclesiastes 5:4-5
4 When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. 5 It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.
